Why Cygnet?
As a child the River Windrush flowed through our garden, and along with its swift waters sailed Colonel Cob and Madam Pen. During the winter they would walk to our front door for food, struggling up the three steps from the river during harsh periods and banging on the door for help. They built their vast nest in the bullrushes at the edge of the garden, working tirelessly to achieve just the right results. Later they would introduce us to the fruits of their labours; their young cygnets.
They took the greatest of care to ensure that their cygnets learnt the vital rules for survival, and gently encouraged them to glide forth on their own when they were confident enough to do so. Much later in life my husband and I were given two black swans to whom we and the children were devoted.
To me, swans signify loyalty and honesty; defending their own as they glide forwards against the strongest current: exactly the qualities my team and I seek to uphold in our business.
